The Cobourg and District Sports Hall of Fame sets 2020 Induction Dinner
The Cobourg and District Sports Hall of Fame has delayed its 2020 induction dinner to November 12, 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As announced in March, Gord Brooks, Neil Cane, Reverend Dr. Kevin Fast, Margie Mathews, Dan Milligan, Ken Petrie, Fred Simpson and Clarke Sommerville are the 2020 nominees. They will be now be formally inducted to the Cobourg and District Sports Hall of Fame at the Cobourg Best Western.
It was further announced that there will be no selection of 2021 nominees.
Application forms for 2022 Sports Hall of Fame nominees will be accepted until September 30, 2021 and new inductees will be announced in March 2022. Applications received for the 2021 nominations will be included for consideration for the 2022 nominations.

The Cobourg Galloping Ghosts are the most famous team in Cobourg sports history. Managed by Fred Dufton, the Ghosts won eight Ontario championships, five after World War II. They were Canadian Dominion champions in 1946, 1948 and 1950. They were the first team in Canada to wear aluminum cleats and the second to wear white uniforms.
